Amy Doering Smith, Secretary
Amy spent 25 years serving, leading, guiding, and advising a diverse range of organizations in the areas of fundraising, communications, marketing, strategic planning, and operations. She has served are Development Director in several nonprofits. She was cofounder and CEO of Safi Water Works/Safe World Water, a Portland, OR social impact startup working on mobile water disinfection systems for the developing world. She has also worked for Oregon Public Broadcasting, the Kid Street Learning Center in San Francisco, and New Avenues for Youth in Portland, OR. Amy is a Big Sister at Big Brothers Big Sisters if Massachusetts Bay. She is a certified yoga instructor.
Ruisha Kingston (“ShaSha”), Director
ShaSha is an undergraduate student at Tufts University pursuing majors in Biology, Psychology, and Environmental Studies. She is passionate about the intersection of these fields, including environmental communication through relationship building and applying plant ecology to climate resiliency efforts. On campus, ShaSha serves as a student representative on the Environmental Studies Executive Committee, runs a student-led sustainability program under the Tufts Office of Sustainability, and works as a research assistant for the Racial Equity and Diversity Lab. In her free time, ShaSha enjoys drawing and painting, making jewelry, and exploring the outdoors.
J. Michael Reed, Treasurer
Michael Reed is a professor of biology at Tufts University, where he does research on extinction risk, and the effects of human alteration of landscapes on biodiversity, mostly on birds. He co-ran an interdisciplinary program at Tufts on Water Diplomacy, and served on the Board of Directors for the Society for Conservation Biology, North American Region. Michael currently serves on the board of Manomet, a nonpartisan, science-driven sustainability nonprofit, he is a member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission, as well as serving on the Science Advisory Committee of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Recovery Office for the Mojave Desert Tortoise. He is President of the Nuttall Ornithological Club, the oldest science-based ornithological society in U.S. (through 2021), and once served on the Science Advisory Committee for the environmental NGO MassAudubon.
Jessica Reilly-Moman, Director
Jessica is a social scientist, ecologist, and writer supporting projects that build equity-centered community climate resilience. She focuses on grassroots capacity building through technical support, training, and community-driven resilience metrics for monitoring, evaluation, and learning. For the past twenty years, she has led diverse teams and projects in the Americas, Europe, and Africa to balance development with natural resource conservation and human well-being. Originally from coastal New Hampshire, I live with my husband, daughter, horse, and two adopted dogs in midcoast Maine, where she is completing her Ph.D. in Ecology and Environmental Studies at the University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center.
John M. Hagan, President & CEO
John is the founder of Our Climate Common. Previously, he was Chair of the Maine Climate Table and President of Manomet, a nonpartisan, science-driven sustainability nonprofit, for 11 years. He has partnered with many for-profit sectors on sustainability, including large timberland owners, farmers, institutional investors, retailers, fishermen, and many others. He received the Austin Wilkins Award from Maine Governor John Baldacci for his work on the stewardship and conservation of Maine’s forests, and the Integrity in Conservation award from the New England Society of American Foresters. John has served on the board of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, the largest forest certification program in North America.
